Police were warning motorists venturing into Troodos to be extremely careful on Sunday following heavy rainstorms in the higher regions of the island.
The flash summer storm – not uncommon in Cyprus for this time of year – resulted in low visibility in the areas of Troodos, Platres and Agros. The rain also resulted in rocks and mud littering the roads.
Traffic police were warning motorists to drive slowly, keep their headlights on and to keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
