Cypriot women sprinters, Ramona Papaioannou, and Eleni Artymata, are out of the Rio Olympics, having failed to achieve the required time.
Papaioannou finished 35th with a time of 23.10 and Artymata 39th with 23.27 in a total of 73 athletes running in the women`s 200 m at the Olympic stadium today.
According the correspondent of the Cyprus Union of Sports Writers Erodotos Miltiadous, both are disappointed with the results since this does not allow them to compete in the semi finals.
Papaioannou has registered a personal record in this race. “I did my best, in a way I am pleased with my personal record but otherwise disappointed, today`s time has no relation to my previous achievements,” she said after the race.
A visibly disappointed Artymata said that she could have done better.
