Holidaymakers who frequent the popular Polis Chrysochous camping site in Paphos will often tell you of the love-hate relationship they have with the area.
During a recent visit to the area, the Cyprus Weekly was quick to discover why.
While the area was equipped with a decent bar and restaurant at reasonable prices overlooking a beautiful bay – the facilities there were appalling.
The showers had cold water and were generally dirty, while one can imagine without going into detail the state of the toilets.
And if that wasn’t enough, rats often frequent the area at night.
While many praise the fact that there is a proper designated camping area in a beautiful part of the island, an equal number of people will complain about the horrid conditions there.
But there is a camping light at the end of the tunnel.
Polis Chrysochous Mayor Angelos Odysseos has told the Cyprus Weekly that all that is about to change and that sweeping changes – which will include significant upgrades to those shoddy facilities – are finally in the pipeline.
