Pafos police follow cannabis trail

Paphos police are trying to determine where the product of cannabis plants tended by three residents of the town would have ended up if they hadn’t intervened.

Drug Squad Press Spokesman Stelios Sergides told reporters two of the three in custody, Paphos men aged 24 and 27, were known to the police in connection to past drug-related run-ins with the law. Sergides also said the police had received information the 27-year-old had been selling drugs.

The two men and a 17-year-old woman, also from Paphos, were arrested after police found them watering seven cannabis plants in the Miliou area of Paphos at around 2am on Tuesday.

Paphos District Court hours later remanded the two men in custody for six days and the teenage girl for two days.

Sergides said investigations were now underway to determine who the drugs would have been sold on to. Testimonies were being taken and a thorough search of the small plantation carried out towards that end, he said.
