A 23-year-old man was killed in a car accident on Saturday evening, on the Palaichori-Anthoupoli road in Nicosia, police reported on Sunday morning.
The man, Andreas Andreou, was from Lythrodonta, and crashed head on with the car of a 34-year-old around 1:15am.
The 23-year-old was trapped in his vehicle after the crash, necessitating the aid of the fire department to remove him. He was then taken to Nicosia General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The driver of the other car, 34, was slight injured and was held at the hospital for further monitoring. An alcohol test was given to the 34-year-old, which came back negative, police said.
Both drivers had not been wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
