Young Andreas Makris from Pafos gets his big break with Walsall

Walsall are shelling big cash to bring on board Cypriot footballer Andreas Makris, who is ready to grow and give his best for the next three years at the Sky Bet League One Club.

The Cypriot international forward, aged 20, has yet to score for his country, but he has eight international caps under his belt, according to Skysports.com, which said Walsall head coach Jon Whitney wanted to get a striker “who has potential” and can fit in.

Makris, who plays for Anorthosis Famagusta since 2013, made a good impression on Whitney, said Skysports, adding that the Cypriot striker bounced with energy and had an eye for goal.

The head coach believes Makris will fit in because the young striker has “good tactical awareness” which is important in how Walsall play the game.

Makris hopes to see his new team reach the Championship but also wants to further his football career.
For now, he says he can’t wait to score and celebrate with fans.
