Seventeen people were charged with gambling offences and a number of computers seized, following a raid on a gaming house in Paphos, police said Thursday.
“In the framework of continuing police action in the crackdown on electronic gaming, and gambling, members of Paphos crime prevention unit last night (Wednesday) carried out a search at premises in Paphos,” police said.
On entering the establishment, police said they encountered 17 people, who were charged with gathering with the purpose of gambling.
“In the investigation that followed, 152 playing cards, 109 chips and a card table were found and confiscated as evidence, along with ten computers which are believed to have been illegally converted into gaming machines
Paphos CID are continuing investigations.
