The Minister of Health, Giorgos Pamporidis, said on Monday that he would soon announce plans to deal with the problems ailing the hospitals in Paphos and Polis Chrysochous.
The two hospitals face a lack of staff, along with a series of other issues. Pamboridis visited the hospitals to discuss the problems with the doctors and administration of the hospital, saying that he would make an announcement “within the day or tomorrow”.
The government’s initial proposal was that general practitioners and cardiologists from Paphos General Hospital also examine the patients at the Polis hospital, but the doctors reacted, saying that this would only make the understaffing issue worse.
“Within the day or tomorrow the latest, the decisions of the ministry will be announced on the issue of resolving the staffing problems at the Polis hospital, but also those at some clinics in the Paphos general hospital,” Pamboridis said.
