Mourning friends of Christian Charilaou will attend his funeral dressed in white on Saturday as a symbol of ‘the angel they lost’ in last week’s traffic incident in Paphos.
On Friday, fellow pupils, family and friends staged a protest march on the Kato Paphos to Coral Bay road to highlight the loss Christian and to emphasis the problems of road safety, especially in the Paphos district.
A Russian man, who had been driving the car that collided with Charilaou’s moped, has been arrested.
The funeral of Christian was set to take place at 12pm on Saturday at the Theoskepasti Church in Paphos with friends of the 17-year-old set to attend dressed in white – to symbolise ‘the angel that was Christian’.
Friends and loved ones of the Christian have requested that instead of wreaths, donations are made to his family. Christian’s father had also died several years ago.
Fellow pupils and teachers at the A Makarios Lyceum in Paphos have described Christian as “a wonderful and loved character”.
