On the occasion of the Festival a press conference took place in the Nicosia at the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Minister of Education and Culture Costas Kadis said that the success of the Cypria International Festival is acknowledged on European level and pointed out that after the necessary assessment, the Festival has been included in the Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe platform.

This year`s innovation, he said, is that the organisers have added special performances for children while for the second consecutive year some performances will have free entrance.

He added that performances will also take place in rural areas as well.

Concluding, the Minister expressed conviction that the public will embrace the festival for one more year and enjoy the performances.

Artistic director Andis Partzilis said that more than 80 proposals were submitted for this year`s Cypria performances.

He pointed out that due to the economic crisis the budget was reduced to 460.000 euro but said that the organisers have prepared a program of high quality with reasonable ticket prices so that all people can enjoy this annual cultural event.

The Cyprus News Agency is among the media sponsors of Cypria, which also include TV station Ant-1 and Politis daily.
