Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) is promoting Cyprus as a tourist destination ideal for weddings a short breaks to the neigbouring Lebanon
In this context CTO organised in December a thematic workshop in Beirut in which a total of 21 tourist related companies from Cyprus, namely hoteliers and tour operators, participated aiming to increase the number of tourist Cyprus attracts every year from Lenanon. Some 55 Lebanese travel agents and other tourist experts and professionals responded to CTO invitation to take part in the Workshop. Tourist specialist from both countries had the opportunity to hold bilateral contacts, establish or renew existing relations.
Recent years have seen an increase in arrivals from Lebanon. For 2016, 50,000 arrivals (2015: 37,000) are estimated, of which most concern short breaks throughout the year. In the field of wedding tourism, the market has increased by 30% and CTO is optimistic about further growth of wedding tourist arrivals from Lebanon.
Ambassador of Cyprus to Lebanon Christina Rafti who addressed the event stressed the need for bilateral cooperation that is mutual beneficial.
CTO also organized a wine tasting event during which the history, evolution and varieties of Cypriot wines were presented.
