Limassol municipality’s new innovation centre named “Limassol Municipal Blue Innovation Centre – Royal Caribbean Group”, in recognition of Royal Caribbean Group’s support

The Limassol Municipal Council, in recognition of the generous support by the Royal Caribbean Group to the Municipality’s newly established Innovation Centre, has decided to name the Centre as “Limassol Municipal Blue Innovation Centre – Royal Caribbean Group”.

As announced, the purpose of the “Limassol Municipal Blue Innovation Centre – Royal Caribbean Group” is to support young entrepreneurs and relevant stakeholders to showcase maritime and shipping industry challenges and develop start up ideas for technologies, products and services and academic prospects with high commercialization potential, for the benefit, competitiveness and growth of the Blue Economy sector and maritime and shipping activities.

The Centre will operate in collaboration with the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, the Research and Innovation Foundation, the two universities of the city that have departments in Maritime Studies, as well as other relevant professional bodies and research centres. Furthermore, the operation of the centre will be supported by Limassol’s maritime cluster, hosting more than 200 companies offering shipping and maritime services.

Royal Caribbean International’s Director of Hotel Operations Mr. Christos Karavos, accompanied by the Mayor of Limassol Mr. Nicos Nicolaides, recently visited the Innovation Centre. The Mayor of Limassol expressed his personal thanks and appreciation to Mr Karavos for Royal Caribbean Group’s support to the Centre. Mr Karavos, commented “On behalf of Royal Caribbean Group, I am delighted that we have been able to financially support this important venture.

I have no doubt that initiatives like the Blue Innovation Centre will support the growth of the Blue Economy for many years to come.”
