A 27-year-old French tourist died on Wednesday after hitting his head on rocks at Ayia Napa’s famous Nissi Beach.
It is the second death at Nissi Beach this week after a 69-year-old Swedish tourist drowned.
Police said that the French tourist attempted to dive into the sea from a small beach island just before 7pm before hitting his head on a nearby rock.
The tourist was quickly picked up by lifeguards on a speedboat and taken to the shore where emergency first aid was given.
The 27-year-old was taken to Famagusta General Hospital where at around 7:10pm doctors pronounced his death.
Severe head injuries are the most likely cause of death. Doctors will determine the exact cause during an autopsy later today.
Ayia Napa Police are investigating.
