Τhe Festivities of Yeronisos

For centuries, Geronisos, also known as the Holy Island, has been a popular destination for the travellers and voyagers of Cyprus. Excavations on the small island opposite Agios Georgios of Pegeia have brought to light findings from the Ptolemaic period, as well as Ionic style architectures that indicate the varied cultural influences of the wider Pafos region, in the course of history. In 2017 and in the context of the Cultural Capital, students, residents, archaeologists, as well as sailors and fishermen, invite the public to a series of events related to Geronisos, such as lectures, festive activities and artistic interventions at the harbour area.

At the same time, a sailing race is organised around Geronisos aiming to highlight the natural beauty of the island, as well as the archaeological wealth of the area.
